The Enantio grape is also known as 'Lambrusco a foglia frastagliata' but bares little resemblance in character to the well-known Lambrusco of Emilia Romagna...in fact Enantio in pure form can create some of the finest examples of wine in the world. Produced from ancient vineyards of average age dating back to 1865, whose vine roots are some of the rarest on the planet after naturally resisting the phylloxera plague. This Riserva is made from small parcels of hand-harvested grapes that are subsequently crushed, fermented and later left to macerate with skins for at least 3 weeks, followed by 8 months rest in stainless steel vats plus 24 months ageing in large barrels as well as a final long period of bottle ageing before release. As a result, we have a fine red wine of intense ruby colour, spicy on the nose with hints of pepper and clove as well as a round fruitiness, mainly forest fruit, and slight tobacco and licorice. Powerful yet elegant in the mouth, extraordinary persistence is supported by a constantly evolving balance. This Enantio Riserva is true testimony to historical and authentic viticulture in the deepest sense, gracefully flying the flag of the native territory as well as that of Italy.
