This Primitivo di Manduria is a well-produced and serious wine that showcases exceptional longevity when stored correctly. It presents a concentrated ruby red colour and a complex aroma profile revealing notes of black cherry, violet, pipe tobacco, leather, licorice, chocolate, and coffee powder. The measured vanilla note adds to its allure. On the palate, it offers a delightful combination of fruit jam and sweet spices, supported by a great structure and body with velvety, silky tannins that lead to a long and harmonious finish. Sourced from vineyards in the Taranto province and crafted purely from Primitivo grapes, this wine is meticulously made using the Alberello training method with 5,000 stumps. The harvest takes place in mid-September, followed by crushing and de-stemming and a 12-14 day resting period over the skins. Afterward, it undergoes 12 months of ageing in French barriques, resulting in a well-balanced flavour profile. This wine is best served at 18°C and pairs beautifully with meat dishes, though it's equally enjoyable on its own.
